UN nuclear watchdog sets Iran deadline to reveal nuclear program
VIENNA (AFP) Sep 12, 2003
The UN nuclear watchdog Friday imposed an October 31 deadline on Iran to prove it is not secretly developing atomic weapons, a spokeswoman for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said.

"The resolution was adopted without a vote, a procedure very unusual in the IAEA", spokeswoman Melissa Fleming said.

A western diplomat earlier confirmed the 35-nation board of the IAEA had approved a resolution urging Iran to reveal whether it is enriching uranium to weapons-grade level by the end of October.

The decision came after five days of intense closed-door negotiations at IAEA headquarters in Vienna.
