"We have put the (nuclear) weapons drawings under IAEA-seals and they are in security" said International Atomic Energy Agency spokesman Mark Gwozdecky.

An IAEA team on Tuesday joined US and British inspectors in Libya to oversee the country's dismantlement of its weapons of mass destruction programs.

A diplomat close to the IAEA said it appears that Libya hadn't gotten very far in the development of a nuclear weapon.

"For what we have seen up to now we continue to believe that the program is in its early stages," the diplomat told AFP.

Last month Libyan leader Moamer Kadhafi pledged to give up his nuclear, chemical and biological weapons capabilities, after holding secret talks with London and Washington.

On Monday the IAEA agreed to oversee Libya's nuclear disarmament, but let British and US experts to carry out the removal and destruction of equipment.
