"They could still be there," Bush told reporters at a prime-time press conference called to defend his policy in Iraq.
"I'm of the belief that we'll find out the truth on the weapons. That's why we sent up the independent commission. I look forward to hearing the truth as to exactly where they are," he said.
"They could be hidden, like the 50 tonnes of mustard gas in a turkey farm" in Libya, he said.
Last month, Libya declared 23 tonnes of mustard gas and 1,300 tonnes of chemical precursors to the international watchdog Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).
