G8 cites 'serious concerns' about North Korea
SAVANNAH, Georgia (AFP) Jun 09, 2004
World leaders at the Group of Eight summit expressed "serious concerns" Wednesday about North Korea's nuclear programs but said they supported a peaceful solution to the standoff with Pyongyang.

In a joint statement, they stressed their backing for the six-nation diplomatic efforts to end the crisis.

"We strongly support the Six-Party Process, and strongly urge (North Korea) to dismantle all of its nuclear weapons-related programs in a complete, verifiable, and irreversible manner, a fundamental step to facilitate a comprehensive and peaceful solution," they said in a joint statement.
