WASHINGTON, July 28 (AFP) Jul 28, 2008
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told US television in an interview released Monday that Tehran was not working to build nuclear weapons.

Asked if Iran sought to be a nuclear power, the president told NBC television: "We are not working to manufacture a bomb. We don't believe in a nuclear bomb."

The comment was released in a partial transcript of the NBC interview, which is to be aired in full later on Monday. Ahmadinejad was speaking through an interpreter.
