Alion To Enhance Helicopter And UAV Technologies

Mclean Va (SPX) Nov 01, 2005
Alion Science and Technology was awarded a $5M contract for process technology of replacement parts production through the Army Aviation and Missile Command.

The contract will focus primarily on Army helicopter and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) weapon systems. The goal of the contract is to increase Army aviation readiness by easing the production of hard to acquire parts through advanced designs and processing technologies. These technologies will result in lower costs, shorter lead time, and higher quality parts and assemblies.

"Alion is looking forward to working on this project that will directly benefit the Warfighter in maintaining aviation readiness," said Chris Amos, Alion Senior Vice President.

"By building upon our existing manufacturing technology capabilities and developments, these efforts will provide the DoD with both better short-term support of its weapons systems, and an expanded industrial base."

The contract will be completed in Grantsburg, WI with McNally Industries as a subcontractor; the University of Wisconsin will act as a subcontractor of McNally. This program will create 15 high technology jobs in Grantsburg with the potential of more as a result of the application of technologies from the program.
