GenDyn gets $125 million U.S. Coast Guard Rescue 21 contract by Geoff Ziezulewicz Scottsdale, Ariz. (UPI) Oct 14, 2016
General Dynamics Mission Systems has been awarded a $125 million U.S. Coast Guard follow-on contract for work on the service's Rescue 21 system. The deal covers program management, system support, maintenance, sustainment and engineering support for the U.S. Coast Guard Command, Control and Communications Engineering Center, the company said in a statement. Rescue 21 is the service's advanced command, control and direction-finding communications system. The 36-month award consists of a base period with three option periods from September 2016 to August 2019. It was created to better locate mariners in distress and to save lives and property at sea and on navigable rivers. Rescue 21 is operational along the entire Atlantic, Pacific and Gulf coasts of the continental United States, as well as along the shores of the Great Lakes, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Island, Hawaii, Guam and the Mariana Islands.
