NATO member orders Falcon III radios

An unidentified member of NATO has ordered tactical line-of-sight and beyond-line-of-site radios from the U.S. communications company. Harris Corp.

The order for the company's Falcon III AN/PRC-152 (C) - and accessories for the units -- is worth $36 million.

"The Harris AN/PRC-152 is the world's leading solution in secure, handheld military communications, with more than 160,000 radios deployed,'' said Brendan O'Connell, said Harris RF Communications president of international business, Brendan O'Connell. "This radio will enable personnel to maintain voice and data connectivity throughout their missions, even when operating in remote areas with limited line-of-sight.''

The AN/PRC-152(C) is a NSA Type-1 and Software Communications Architecture certified radio and is used by members of NATO and other militaries participating in the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan. Among its features are SINCGARS interoperability and programmable data encryption.

The number of Falcon III units covered by the order and their delivery schedule were not disclosed.
