Progeny to develop U.S. Navy submarine payload control system
by Ryan Maass
Washington (UPI) Feb 24, 2016

The U.S. Navy has given Progeny Systems Corporation a $54.7 million contract to design and deliver payload control system for its submarines.

The payload control system is part of the AN/BYG-1 Submarine Combat Control system being integrated on all of the Navy's new construction and in-service submarines.

The contract for the payload control system also includes $500,000 in funding for the Royal Australian Army.

The AN/BYG-1 modernization program supplies software and hardware upgrades with the aim of improving tactical and weapons control capabilities.

Submarines equipped with the AN/BYG-1 combat control system are able to analyze submarine sensor contact information in open ocean and littoral environments.

Work on the contract will be performed in Manassas, Va., and Middletown, R.I., and is expected to be complete by February 2021.

General Dynamics to support U.S., U.K. submarine weapon systems
Washington (UPI) Feb 18, 2016 - The U.S. Navy has given General Dynamics a $74 million contract modification for new U.S. and U.K. fire and attack weapon control system procurements.

The contract modification supports the U.S. Navy's Ohio Replacement Submarine program and the United Kingdom's Successor Common Missile Compartment program.

Under the program, the U.S. Navy is developing a nuclear submarine to replace the Trident-armed Ohio-class submarines currently in service.

General Dynamics will be tasked providing a SSBN fire control system for the United Kingdom, and a SSGN attack weapon control system for the U.S. Navy.

Work on the contract will be performed in Pittsfield, Mass., and other locations in the United States.
