High-level Chinese military delegation leaves for North Korea
BEIJING (AFP) Aug 18, 2003
A high-level Chinese military delegation left here Monday for North Korea on what was termed a "goodwill" visit by official state media.

The Xinhua news agency said the delegation was headed by General Xu Caihou, director of the Chinese army's general political department who was invited by Jo Myongrok, director-general of the Political Bureau of the Korean People's Army.

News of the visit comes barely a week ahead of crucial six-way talks in Beijing to resolve the 10-month crisis over the Stalinist state's nuclear weapons ambitions.

Jo visited China, North Korea's closet ally and aid provider, in April.
