The launch campaign for an Ariane 4 launch has been rescheduled after several days suspension in response to Korea Telecom's request for additional time to perform further checks on Koreasat 3.
These checks have now been completed and Flight 120 is scheduled for launch Friday evening September 3 from Kourou launch center in French Guiana. The launched window is 6:34pm to 8:48 pm EDT or 7:34pm to 09:48pm local time. Liftoff of the Ariane 42P launcher will take place as early as possible within the launch window.
Koreasat 3, is the third telecommunications satellite operated by Korea Telecom, and will be used to expand the telecommunications services offered by Korea Telecom. Built by Lockheed Martin Telecommunications, Koreasat 3 will weigh 2,790 kg (6,138 lb) at liftoff, and will have 46 Ka and Ku-band transponders.
Arianespace has previously launched two Korean technology demonstration microsatellites, Kitsat-A in August 1992 and Kitsat-B in September 1993, as secondary payloads.
