Avtec has been awarded multiple contracts by SpaceDev's UK-based subsidiary Space Innovations for PTP systems to support the Australia's FedSat program.

Avtec's Programmable Telemetry Processor systems will perform telemetry and telecommand operations for this mission by implementing fully compliant CCSDS data processing including COP-1 telecommand protocol functions.

The PTP is a COTS product that operates as a T&C gateway between space and terrestrial data networks, and supports complete remote control, monitoring and routing operations.

FedSat is a research satellite developed by the Australian Cooperative Research Centre for Satellite Systems. The satellite is expected to be launched in late 2000 and will carry communications, computing, navigation, public interest and space science payloads.

SIL is the ground station systems integrator and will be supporting program testing and operations in Tanegashima, Japan for the National Space Development Agency of Japan (NASDA), and at the University of South Australia in Canberra.

Avtec's Satellite Ground Systems Division President, Ron Hirsch states that, "Avtec's PTP systems are now being recognized as a world standard for complete CCSDS data processing and networking.

"Our PTP systems have been widely deployed in command and control centers, and are now being utilized for real-time telemetry processing at rates above 320 Mbps," Hirsch.

Avtec Systems is a leading supplier of innovative aerospace engineering services, mission-proven satellite ground system products, and test equipment to government and industry customers.
