Alternative Energy Living Foundation and Florida International University announced Monday that the first shipment of American made components for the Future House USA (FHUSA), has set sail for Beijing China. Leaving from Portland, the FHUSA is bound for the Port of Xingang with the final destination being the Future House Community, located in the Olympic Area in Beijing China. FHUSA will showcase a high performance, non-toxic, Zero Net Energy House, presenting a uniquely American made product that employs an advanced design that integrates the architectural style and innovation of Frank Lloyd Wright with the Chinese practice of Feng-Shui.
This project was commissioned by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Construction through a state owned company named Future House Real Estate Co. Ltd. This project has invited ten nations, with each bringing its best in sustainable next generation home building onto one site. The countries participating are China, Germany, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Norway, England, South Korea, Japan and the United States. The Future House Community will be open to the public as a demonstration project for a period of six years, including during the 2008 Summer Games. Organizers of the project are anticipating over five million visitors from around the World.
Future House USA features a building practice created by Founder, George Bialecki Jr., termed Home Biology 101. This practice integrates the latest advancements in Energy Efficiency, Water Conservation, Storm Water Management, Indoor Air Quality and Recycling Management. At completion, Future House USA will provide not only a healthier interior for its homeowners by eliminating toxic off gassing that would be found in conventional construction, but also a home that is healthier for our environment by eliminating the carbon footprint. This Zero Net Energy (ZNE) home will produce all energy used in the home annually, on site by using solar electric, solar thermal, and geothermal.
Alternative Energy Living Foundation is very honored to be representing the United States in this very important global energy initiative. We hope through the international collaborative efforts of Future House, we can work together as One World toward a common energy and environmental solution.
High-performance American made products have been converging on the Portland seaport, for the last two weeks, being staged there by the FHUSA shipping representative American Technology Homes, Inc. All in all, eight containers worth of Made in USA building materials will be shipped to Beijing for the Future House USA Project.
Project Director, George Bialecki Jr. states, " I believe, at this time when our country is voicing a strong concern about our present environmental issues and energy security, that Future House USA is a true depiction of what makes up the unique fabric of our great country. Bringing people together from all around the United States to design, manufacture and deploy a structure that can change the way we view housing into the future. As momentum built toward shipping FHUSA, many challenges were met with true integrity, compassion, cooperation and determination that indefinably represents the true American spirit.
"Future House USA being Made in the USA, is a very important aspect of this project to us. Each of these products has created jobs for Americans, and involved them in the process of manufacturing an export product which can help to satisfy the ever increasing housing demands of developing countries from around the World. We are honored that Future House USA will showcase the high performance products of our participating sponsors, which include Sloan Valve, Decra Roofing, PPG and ClimateMaster, as well as a host of other American made, high performance, products."
