Dr. Kevin J. Reardon has been named executive director of the Network Centric Operations Industry Consortium (NCOIC), responsible as chief executive to the consortium's executive council for operational leadership of this international coalition that currently consists of 80 member organizations represented by more than 800 active participants.
"As this consortium grows in size and capability, it is important to ensure that the organization is operating at maximum effectiveness," said Carl O'Berry, executive chairman of the NCOIC.
"Kevin was selected from a large and highly competitive pool of candidates because he has experience, enthusiasm and credentials that fully qualify him to champion the NCOIC as it continues to work toward an industry approach that will enable all computing systems, military and others, to operate on a global network."
Prior to entering the private sector, Dr. Reardon served for more than 30 years in the U.S. Navy, retiring at the rank of captain. His naval career included the command of two multi-billion dollar nuclear submarines and senior leadership and advisory assignments with the U.S. Navy and the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Subsequently, he has held executive leadership positions with commercial high-tech and major defense firms, including Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman and General Dynamics.
Dr. Reardon graduated with distinction from the U.S. Naval Academy and has a master of science degree in statistics and a doctorate in operations research from Stanford University. He also completed executive education at Harvard University. He serves on the boards of directors of several nonprofit organizations, including First Star, a national level charity dedicated to improving life for America 's most vulnerable children.
