Roscosmos and the National Space Agency of Ukraine have laid down a framework for cooperation in space exploration for 2007-2011, a NSAU representative has said, following talks at the MAKS aviation and space salon, between the agencies' leaders, Yury Alekseev of the Ukraine, and Anatoly Perminov, of Russia.
The talks were also attended by the Ukrainian State Secretary Alexander Zinchenko.
After the talks the leaders of the agencies signed a document called "Decision on the future development of Ukrainian-Russian cooperation in the space sphere".
The priorities of the cooperation will be: the development and upgrading of launch vehicles, the provision of launch services, exploitation of launch sites, the development of space communication and broadcasting means, usage of Earth remote sensing data, development of spacecraft control means, and scientific research and experiments aboard the Russian segment of the International Space Station.
Yury Alekseev and Anatoly Perminov decided to establish a joint working group to put all the proposals into a draft for the 'Russian-Ukrainian cooperation in space exploration for 2007-2011' plan.
During the meeting they discussed further measures to realize other joint space projects.
The parties will continue to prepare a "Long-term program of Russian-Ukrainian experiments aboard the Russian segment of the International Space Station".
Moreover, the Ukrainian party was interested in international programs of manned space flights, including the Clipper project, and made a decision that NSAU would prepare corresponding proposals for taking part in such projects, sending them to Roscosmos.
