Saft announces a multi million-dollar expansion of Lithium Ion production capabilities at its Cockeysville, MD facility in support of its North American Space, Defense and Automotive Customers.
The Cockeysville, MD facility will be upgraded with new, automated production equipment capable of producing both prototype samples and production quantities of commercial lithium ion batteries for satellite, launch vehicle, military and automotive customers.
In announcing this investment, Jean Brunol, Saft CEO, stated "This investment is a commitment to our North American Space, Defense and Automotive customers to provide American produced, state of the art, lithium ion technology. Coupled with our European production capabilities we have strengthened our position as a global leader in advanced energy and power storage systems for these industries".
The Cockeysville, Maryland facility is home for Saft's Advanced Technology Division and one of Saft's two Research & Development centers. With this $ 20 million expansion, Saft will be able to better support its Space & Defense customers by offering them the complete capability of taking projects directly from development and design through production and delivery from a single American site.
