A landslide that swept over part of an upscale development in the Colombian city of Medellin was feared to have killed at least 12 people, authorities said Sunday.

A landslide that swept over part of an upscale development in the Colombian city of Medellin was feared to have killed at least 12 people, authorities said Sunday.

"Preliminary reports on possible victims are being done, but there is little hope" for the 12-15 people believed to have been living in the affected area of one of the city's most exclusive developments, Medellin Mayor Antonio Salazar said.

The crush of earth and rocks swept over a high-lying area of the El Poblado neighborhood around 1045 GMT, Salazar said.
