Comtech Telecommunications announced Tuesday that its Maryland-based subsidiary, Comtech Mobile Datacom, recently received orders totaling $12.7 million on its Movement Tracking System, or MTS contract, with the U.S. Army.

Total orders received to date against the $418.2 million contract increased to $212.8 million.

The orders are for the supply of Comtech's next generation Model MT 2012 mobile satellite transceivers, which feature embedded Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and secure Global Positioning System (GPS) capabilities, along with both ruggedized and control station computers, and related field services.

Comtech's Model 2012 Transceiver features an RFID module manufactured by Savi Technology, Inc. The new orders also support ongoing MTS activities in Iraq, Kuwait, and at selected Army Bases in the United States.

Fred Kornberg, President and Chief Executive Officer of Comtech Telecommunications, said, "We are extremely pleased with the most recent orders for our MTS products. The deployment of our next generation satellite transceiver demonstrates the importance our products play in supporting the D.O.D.'s communications needs."
