ManTech Wins Contract For Design & Development Of Militarized Products & Systems

Fairfax VA (SPX) Oct 26, 2005
ManTech International has announced that it has been awarded a contract in the third quarter from the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) to provide services for the design and development of militarized products for the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC), Indian Head Division.

The multi-year effort, awarded under the NAVSEA SeaPort Enhanced contract, has a 12-month base-period, and four one-year option periods, for an estimated total value of $34.9 million. Under the contract, ManTech will provide Human System Integration (HSI) engineering, technical, and management services to products and systems such as unmanned vehicles, training ranges, air-to-air/air-to-ground weapons, and aerial target shipboard combat systems.

Other support involves the design and development of performance tools; technical data support; product/systems deployment planning and support; testing; training; and program management support.

"Human System Integration engineering helps ensure that the needs of the sailor or warfighter are considered during the full cycle of system development - from design, to operation," said Jim Kelly, Chief Operating Officer, ManTech Gray Hawk.

"We will apply our extensive experience working with the NSWC, and in Human System Integration, to help ensure that these systems maximize performance and reduce lifetime cost."

"This award further demonstrates the effectiveness of our integration process between ManTech and Gray Hawk and the additional strength of our combined capabilities," said Robert A. Coleman, President and Chief Operating Officer, ManTech International Corporation. "Providing HSI engineering support adds another dimension to the services that we can offer the Navy."

Subcontractors working with ManTech on the program are Applied Techniques Corporation, a woman-owned small business based in Maryland that provides HSI analysis; and HiPK, a Virginia-based, veteran-owned and operated small business that provides extensive consulting services for the Navy.

The Naval Surface Center at Indian Head, MD, provides special weapons support, explosives safety support, and ordnance environmental support to the U.S., foreign military, and ordnance industry. They design, scale up, and produce explosives, ordnance, and propellants used in all major DOD weapons systems.
