Recognizing unique needs within the utility industry for customized workforce management (WFM) functionality, Olameter has released their own WFM application, onService. Leveraging their in-field experience combined with technology expertise, Olameter has developed onService specifically to meet the needs of electric, water, and gas utilities today and into the future.
onService enables the optimization of field resource distribution and service, and allows seamless integration with other applications, including CIS, MDMR, and AMI monitoring systems, such as Olameter's inView application.
Functionality includes customized dispatching via a web-portal which allows work distribution by field staff and equipment attribute including location, and training levels. onService's powerful handheld software platform provides for customizable service order types and fields within those types, barcode, image, and GPS capture compatibility, extensive reporting features, and more.
While onService can be deployed on any handheld with a Windows Mobile 5 operating system or higher platform, Olameter has chosen the Motorola MC series hardware line for application deployment, and offers this hardware to utilities choosing their leasing option.
Olameter's flat-file interface format simplifies integration and provides seamless transfers of field data between onService and utility systems including CIS. More complex integration can be established through the use of Olameter's API.
"Through our hands-on experience in the field using various other workforce management systems, Olameter identified a gap in solutions that fully meet utilities' unique requirements while allowing rapid implementation, comprehensive integration, cost-effective operation, and the capability to effectively evolve to other field uses," said Brent Williams, Olameter's Vice President of IT Solutions.
"Olameter determined that the most effective way to fill this gap was to develop a custom solution that meets overall industry needs while allowing the implementation of utility-specific modifications, as needed."
Olameter will offer this application on a leased or licensed basis. A hosted onService solution will include all the necessary handheld devices, charging cradles, accessories, software, and dispatching and integration services for one monthly fee.
