NKorea Launches Three Missiles On US Holiday

The United States on Tuesday launched frenzied diplomacy to respond to North Korea for a "provocative" wave of missile launches but said the rockets posed no immediate threat to US territory. Top US officials immediately reached out to their counterparts in China, Japan, Russia and South Korea, and were weighing an array of diplomatic options.

North Korea launched three missiles early Wednesday, including one which might be a long-range Taepodong-2 missile, a senior South Korean government official said. "North Korea fired two middle-range missiles and a third one which is presumably a Taepodong-2. The third one fell into the East Sea (Sea of Japan)."

NKorea Missile Launches Grave Problem - Japan

North Korea fired three missiles early Wednesday, Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Shinzo Abe told reporters, describing the launches as "a grave problem in terms of peace and stability." He said the missiles landed in the Sea of Japan (East Sea) several hundred kilometers (miles) from the coast of Japan.

Bundeswehr Procures More DINGO 2 Vehicles

The Budget Committee of the German Parliament yesterday gave the go-ahead for the procurement of 149 allprotected transport vehicles, type DINGO 2, made by Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW). The contract totalling approx. 109 million euros is to be awarded shortly. The vehicles to be ordered include 15 for the so-called immediate requirement.

US Joint Forces Command Extends GD Contract

B-1B Pilot Reaches 4000 Flying Hours

A 9th Expeditionary Bomb Squadron pilot etched his name in the history books as he became the first pilot to go over 4,000 flying hours in the B-1B. Lt. Col. Jeff Roetzel recently completed an Operation Enduring Freedom combat mission that put him on a plateau that no other pilot has ever reached.

Device To Improve Weather Observations
