New Technology Expands Air Force Combat Capability Moody AFB GA (AFNS) Feb 28, 2007 
The 820th Security Forces Group was selected recently as the first Air Force unit to purchase and deploy the Ground Situational Awareness Toolkit. The GSAT system, consisting of the Scan Eagle unmanned aerial system and ShotSpotter gunfire acquisition technology, will allow Airmen to identify possible enemy firing locations by tracking where shots are coming from.

Raytheon Demonstrates Engine For Powered Joint Standoff Weapon Extended Range
Tucson AZ (SPX) Feb 28, 2007Raytheon has successfully demonstrated the engine of Joint Standoff Weapon Extended Range (JSOW ER), a new low-cost extended-range missile. The engine ground test of JSOW ER successfully evaluated a flush inlet design and overall engine performance and showed that engine performance matched simulation results. Orland FL (SPX) Feb 28, 2007Lockheed Martin and Kongsberg Defence and Aerospace (Kongsberg) of Norway have entered into a Joint Marketing Agreement to market an air-launched version of the Naval Strike Missile. The missile, to be called the Joint Strike Missile (JSM), is designed to be carried internally and launched externally from the F-35 Lightning II aircraft. Boeing Demonstrates Increased Capabilities On B-1 Bomber
St Louis MO (SPX) Feb 07, 2007Boeing has successfully demonstrated the use of an electro-optical/infrared targeting pod on a B-1 bomber, increasing the aircraft's ability to minimize ground threats and halt an enemy's advancement. Configured with a Sniper XR electro-optical/infrared targeting pod manufactured by Lockheed Martin, the B-1 crew completed more than 40 test conditions in approximately eight hours on Jan. 19 over the Mojave Desert in California.
