No reason was given for the decision to hold the exercise at the Isfahan uranium conversion facility in central Iran, which is surrounded by anti-aircraft guns to ward off enemy attacks. Iranian Missing In Turkey Sparks Spy Snatch Talk Ankara (AFP) March 06, 2007 Mystery swirled on Tuesday over the disappearance of a senior Iranian official in Turkey, with accusations in Tehran he was snatched by Western spy agencies and even the Israeli media suggesting it may have been the work of their own Mossad. Ali Reza Asghari, a former deputy defence minister said to have information about Iran's nuclear programme, went missing in Istanbul in February shortly after checking into a luxury hotel, press reports said. The Battle For Haditha Haditha, Iraq (UPI) Mar 05, 2007 More than a year and three battalions completing tours of duty there after it happened, U.S. Marines serving in the Iraqi city of Haditha still feel the psychological weight of the November 2005 alleged massacre when a squad of Marines shot and killed 24 Hadithans, shortly after one of their troops was killed by an improvised explosive device. Hadithans don't bring up the incident with the Americans much. It may be purely a political calculation, telling the occupiers only what they want to hear. Hope In Afghanistan Moscow (UPI) March 06, 2007 It has become bad form not to lash out at NATO and the United States for their actions in Afghanistan. Many analysts are convinced that NATO's affairs there could not get any worse, and that the U.S. is getting bogged down there like it is in Iraq; that the situation in Afghanistan is going from bad to worse; that NATO and the U.S. are repeating the Soviet Union's mistakes and are doomed to the same fate. However, I believe these assessments are not quite fair. |
