Northrop Grumman Develop Pop-Up Submarine Destroyer Tech

Northrop Grumman has been awarded a further contract by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and the U.S. Navy to continue developing and testing a new system for future submarines to carry and launch torpedoes. Northrop Grumman's Newport News sector is the prime contractor for the work, which is valued at approximately $12.7 million. This exploratory work will also help create the foundation for future submarines.

Excalibur Completes Final Testing Clearing Path For Early Fielding

Raytheon's Excalibur precision-guided 155 mm artillery round has passed its final testing hurdle for fielding with the successful completion of a so- called Limited User Test in February at Yuma Proving Ground, Ariz. Pending additional system-level certification, Excalibur will be fielded to U.S. Army and Canadian field artillery units.

Boeing Delivers 500th PAC-3 Missile Seeker To Lockheed Martin

The Boeing has delivered the U.S. Army's 500th Patriot Advanced Capability-3 (PAC-3) Missile seeker, a component that enables the weapon system to detect and track targets. Lockheed Martin Corp. is the PAC-3 Missile prime contractor. Boeing and Lockheed Martin, along with government and industry partners, celebrated the December 2006 delivery milestone during a March 8 ceremony at Boeing's Missile Defense Systems production facility in Huntsville, Ala.

USAF Hosts Pacific Command BMD Conference

The U.S. Air Force hosted a conference on ballistic missile defense at Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii later last month, Air Force News reported Tuesday. "Service members and civilians from across the Pacific met at Hickam late February for a conference to discuss ballistic missile defense for the PACOM Area of Responsibility," AFN said.

  USAF Japan Base Gets New BMD Infomation System

A U.S. air base in Japan will be operating with a new missile information processing system for ballistic missile defense this summer. The new mobile information processing system for ballistic missile defense operations should be up and running at the Misawa air base in the Aomori Prefecture by mid-2007, the Kyodo news agency reported Saturday. The new system "picks up and analyzes satellite data on ballistic missile launches," the Kyodo report said, citing what it called "local sources."

D.R.Congo Nuclear Centre Officials Arrested Over Uranium Smuggling

Two officials from the Regional Center for Nuclear Studies in Kinshasa have been arrested in a police inquiry over the illegal sale of uranium, DRCongo's general prosecutor told AFP Thursday. "The general atomic-energy officer and director (of the centre), Fortunat Lumu, and another official are questioned by judicial inspectors over the smuggling of a large amount of uranium," Tshimanga Mukeba said.

Iran Says Moscow Wants NPP Funding Ahead Of Time

Iran's top security official said Thursday Russia demanded payments for the construction of a nuclear power plant in southern Iran ahead of schedule. Russia said last month that Iran had an unpaid debt for its services to build the Islamic Republic's first NPP in Bushehr and warned the launch of the plant, slated for September, could be delayed.

Flurry Of Diplomatic Consultations As Iran Sanctions Talks Falter

Major power diplomats held a flurry of telephone consultations Thursday as disagreements snagged negotiations on a new UN sanctions resolution to curb Iran's nuclear program, US officials said. US Under Secretary of State Nicholas Burns held a conference call Thursday with his counterparts from Britain, China, France, Russia and Germany and then spoke separately with each of the five over the sanctions proposals, State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said.

Harris Receives Intelsat Approval For Its Multiband Deployable Antenna Terminals

General Dynamics Completes Milestone In Design Of US Navy Mobile User Objective System
