Made by Israel Aerospace Industries, the Heron TP unmanned aerial vehicles have a massive wingspan of 84 feet, nearly equal to a Boeing 747 passenger jet. Led by Carl Batt, the Liberty Hyde Bailey Professor of Food Science, the researchers synthesized nanoparticles - shaped something like a dumbbell - made of gold sandwiched between two pieces of iron oxide.
