In a world teeming with sensors in various domains-space, sea, and land-the challenge of limited bandwidth, security concerns, and system incompatibility remains paramount. Addressing this, the concept of multi-domain operations has emerged, aiming to enhance national security by integrating disparate devices at critical moments. Wesley, after retiring, embarked on a mission as CEO of Parasanti to realize this vision, focusing on software that enhances device capabilities and fosters communication among previously incompatible systems.

Parasanti's collaboration with Collins Aerospace, a subsidiary of RTX, has spotlighted the potential of their initiative. They merged Collins' RapidEdge Monitoring System, which governs drone swarms, with Parasanti's UNITE application-formerly Lasso-enabling drones to update their software autonomously in challenging environments.

A breakthrough demonstration at the RapidEdge Battle Lab showcased a scenario where drones, launched from a helicopter, needed an urgent mission update. Typically, this would require the drones to return for software installation. However, leveraging the UNITE application, a new drone delivered the necessary software to the swarm within seconds, illustrating a significant advance in field adaptability.

This innovation not only saves time and minimizes risk by keeping manned aircraft at a safer distance but also reduces the chance of adversaries intercepting the data. According to Peter Laird, a value stream leader at Collins, such on-field software deployment paves the way for more efficient, cost-effective, and agile systems.

The initiative, Powered by Collins, seeks to foster collaboration with small-to-medium-sized enterprises possessing easily integrable technologies. This approach, as explained by Jonathan Hartman, director of open innovation at Collins, aims to leverage the vast investments in the global startup ecosystem to accelerate customer solutions.

Through the Powered by Collins program, collaborations like that with Parasanti allow for rapid application development and integration, demonstrating the feasibility of swift software updates in operational settings. Such advancements are deemed crucial for the U.S. military, enhancing the safety and effectiveness of manned aircraft pilots in the field.

Both Collins and Parasanti view the partnership as mutually beneficial, validating the strategic advantage of integrating innovative software solutions from startups into established industry products. This collaboration not only confirms the value of Parasanti's software to industry leaders like Collins but also highlights the potential for such partnerships to drive industry-wide innovation and support key stakeholders.
