Hauppauge NY (SPX) Aug 10, 2005 Globecomm Systems announced Tuesday that the Company is teaming with IPIX, a designer of immersive imaging technology, to offer satellite and wireless surveillance solutions on a global basis. The companies will co-market the combined capabilities as "Surveillance Network Solutions," a turnkey broadband solution that will fuse Globecomm's satellite and network services with IPIX's 360-degree video cameras and analytics, targeting the global government, enterprise observation and surveillance network markets. David Hershberg, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Globecomm Systems, said, "IP-based surveillance is a natural extension to Globecomm's business model." Mr. Hershberg continued, "Globecomm's global reach will allow both companies to rapidly deploy turnkey surveillance solutions. Globecomm has created a demonstration video surveillance network at its Long Island facility, which will be used as a testing laboratory. Coupling the Company's global satellite reach and IPIX's surveillance applications, the laboratory will ensure compliance with bandwidth requirements and wireless delivery systems. "We have currently identified multiple opportunities that the two companies will be working on together and look forward building a long-term relationship with an emerging leader in the immersive imaging space." Clara Conti, President and Chief Executive Officer of IPIX, said, "This partnership comes at an auspicious time for IPIX, which was recently awarded a DARPA contract through the Department of Defense to build the world's highest resolution camera." "GSI offers an invaluable, efficient supply of bandwidth that is the perfect channel for transmitting the video IPIX captures," she said. "By fusing GSI's satellite network with our video applications, this partnership enhances our array of surveillance capabilities, including border control and battle surveillance. We will offer a powerful proposition in the retail space as well, and anywhere else accessible, high-resolution surveillance helps support business and save lives."
