Gutor passes NUPIC audit
by Staff Writers
Wettingen, Switzerland (SPX) Dec 02, 2022

.

For the second time, Gutor, a world-leading energy solutions, has passed the critical and stringent audit from the Nuclear Procurement Issues Corporation (NUPIC), a U.S. nuclear industry oversight group. The report issued by NUPIC contained no findings.

"This audit confirms that Gutor continues to be a premier supplier to nuclear power plants," said Mike May, Gutor's Sales Manager of Nuclear Business for North America. "For over 75 years, Gutor has provided systems and components for industrial environments. We hold ourselves to the highest of standards. This new audit shows once again that Gutor is playing a key role in keeping nuclear power safe and in reducing the impact of carbon emissions in our world."

NUPIC is a group whose membership includes all domestic U.S. nuclear utilities, and several international members. Since 1989, NUPIC has assessed companies that supply safety-related components, services, and other operational elements to nuclear facilities.

In November 2022, six auditors inspected the Gutor manufacturing facility in Wettingen, Switzerland. Gutor's systems, which include custom-tailored Chargers, Inverters, and Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) systems, were found to be well-suited for a variety of nuclear reactor technologies.

"NUPIC evaluates 18 categories to ensure the highest level of quality for safety-related nuclear suppliers," said Jonathan Michalon, Gutor Nuclear Program Manager Worldwide. "Gutor passed in all categories. This detailed and thorough audit is a mark of excellence in the nuclear power industry."

This is the second time Gutor has received a positive audit from NUPIC. In 2020, NUPIC audited Gutor's ASME NQA-1-compliant Quality Management System with no findings. At that time, the company was added to a list of Approved Suppliers and allowed to provide nuclear safety-related systems to NUPIC members.

"We're proud Gutor's stellar reputation has been validated by the most recent NUPIC audit - the highest proof of quality in the nuclear industry," concluded Michalon. "As a company committed to safety, diversity of fuel options, and reducing industries' carbon footprint around the world, Gutor will continue to ensure nuclear power producers have the tools they need."

Kyiv, Ukraine (AFP) Dec 1, 2022
Ukraine on Thursday formally sacked and branded a traitor the Ukrainian engineer appointed by Moscow to head Europe's largest nuclear facility, the Zaporizhzhia plant, which is under Russian occupation. Yuri Chernichuk, the facility's chief engineer, said on Wednesday that he had agreed to take the post because it was "in my opinion the only correct decision." Rosenergoatom, the Russian nuclear operator put in charge by Moscow, confirmed his appointment. On Thursday, Ukraine's nuclear agenc ... read more
