"Two suspects who were identified in proximity to (Israeli) troops and posed a threat to them were struck by an (air force) aircraft in southern Gaza in order to remove the threat", the army told AFP, adding that "hits were identified".
Nasser Hospital, located in the southern city of Khan Yunis, told AFP in a statement that it had received the body of a Palestinian killed in a strike on Friday.
"Ambulance crews in Rafah recovered a martyr after he was targeted in an air strike by (Israel) west of Rafah city", the hospital said.
Since a fragile ceasefire went into effect in Gaza on January 19, Israel has conducted at least three other air strikes on the Palestinian territory.
The military has said it was targeting Hamas rocket launch sites, a "suspicious vehicle" or responding to "projectiles" fired from the Palestinian territory.
It has also said it fired on Palestinians who "posed a threat" to its troops in Gaza on several occasions.
Defence Minister Israel Katz on Thursday accused Hamas of plotting attacks on soldiers and Israeli civilians during the ceasefire, an assertion the militant group has called "baseless and misleading."
The first phase of the ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas is set to end Saturday, with no clarity on the planned second phase, which is hoped to bring a more lasting end to the Gaza war.
