Surface warfare and mine counter-measures mission packages are to be delivered for U.S. Navy Littoral Combat Ships by Northrop Grumman.

Northrop Grumman, the mission package integrator for the ships, said the contract for one each of the packages is worth $21.6 million.

"As the mission package integrator for LCS we are committed to meeting the demanding requirements of our warfighters, while providing supplier base stability and reducing cost to the Navy," said Doug Shaffer, director, electronic attack/maritime systems integration programs, Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems. "As more Littoral Combat Ships enter service, the U.S. Navy/Northrop Grumman team has stepped up to make sure the mission modules are available when needed to achieve initial operational capability."

Three mine counter-measures and three surface warfare mission modules for the ships have been delivered by Northrop Grumman and a fourth mine counter-measures mission module is in production, as are additional surface warfare modules.

The company delivers the modules to a facility in California, where it also completes integration work.
