Nuclear Capable Missile Test-Fired in Pakistan
by Staff Writers
Moscow (Sputnik) Mar 13, 2015

Shaheen-III test launch.

Pakistan conducted a successful test launch of a Shaheen-III Ballistic Missile on Monday, capable of carrying warheads to a range of 2,750 km.

Pakistan successfully conducted a test launch of the surface-to-surface ballistic missile called Shaheen- III, which is capable of carrying nuclear and conventional warheads to a range of 2,750 kilometers.

The test launch was aimed at reviewing various design and technical parameters of the weapon system at a maximum range. The successful launch, with its impact point in the Arabian Sea, was witnessed by senior officers from the strategic plans division, strategic forces, scientists and engineers of strategic organizations.

Director General of Strategic Plans Division Lieutenant General Zubair Mahmood Hayat called the test a major step towards strengthening Pakistan's deterrence capability.

Hayat congratulated the team and appreciated the technical expertise, dedication and commitment of the scientists who contributed to make this launch a success.

General Hayat expressed his confidence over the strategic forces' capability to ensure the security of the country against any aggression.

Last month Pakistan conducted a successful flight test of the indigenously developed Air Launched Cruise Missile (ALCM) Ra'ad. With a range of 350 kilometers, the Ra'ad missile enables Pakistan to achieve strategic standoff capability both on land and at sea as it uses extremely complex "Cruise Technology" that has been developed by only a few countries in the world, the Pakistan's army had said.

Pakistan's President Mamoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif both congratulated the scientists and engineers on their achievement.
