Possible 1.3 billion dollar sale of munitions, missiles to Israel: US Washington (AFP) Oct 31, 2007 The Pentagon announced Wednesday a possble sale to Israel of 1.3 billion dollars in missiles and munitions, including "bunker defeat" weapons. "It is vital to the US national interest to assist Israel to develop and maintain a strong and ready self-defense capability," the Defense Security and Cooperation Agency said in a statement. "This proposed sale is consistent with those objectives." The agency's notification to Congress included a laundry list of missiles and munitions. Among them were: -- 2,000 Radio Frequency TOW anti-armor missiles -- 1,500 114M3 Hellfire II air-to-ground missiles -- 200 114L3 Hellfire II Longbow missiles -- 100 Patriot guidance enhanced missiles -- 5,000 M141 83 mm bunker defeat munitions "The estimated cost is 1.329 billion dollars," the agency said.
