Raytheon announced Thursday it has received a 10.5 million dollar contract from the German company COMLOG to test and deliver an upgrade kit for Patriot missile facility test equipment. The company will perform the work at its Integrated Air Defense Center in Andover, Mass.

The contract calls for Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems to provide a kit to upgrade the existing Patriot Missile 460 test station at the site in Schrobenhausen, Germany, to the new PM 560 configuration. The PM 560 features upgrades to software and hardware to improve testing capability and to keep the test station supportable for the life of the Patriot program.

COMLOG, a joint venture between Raytheon and the German company Lenkflugkorpersysteme GmbH, provides Patriot missile maintenance, repair and logistic services support on behalf of NAMSA - the NATO Maintenance and Supply Agency - located in Capellen, Luxembourg.

Integrated Defense Systems is Raytheon's leader in Joint Battlespace Integration providing solutions for an international and domestic customer base, including the U.S. Missile Defense Agency and the U.S. armed forces.

"This upgrade provides an enhanced capability to test Patriot missiles to ensure the combat-tested missile continues to perform well into the future," said Rick Yuse, Raytheon IDS Integrated Air Defense vice president.

New American Non-Nuclear ICBM Creates Global Dangers
Moscow (UPI) Jun 16, 2006
On May 22, The Washington Post carried an article "A Missile Strike Option We Need" by two former U.S. Secretaries of Defense - Harold Brown, 1977-1981. and James Schlesinger, 1973-1975. Brown and Schlesinger suggested installing non-nuclear warheads on U.S. strategic missiles, first of all, Trident II D5 submarine-launched ballistic missiles, or SLBMs, which have multiple independently targeted reentry vehicles, or MIRVs.
