Remmele Engineering To Support Lockheed Martin Solid-State Radar Development

Lockheed Martin and Remmele Engineering announced an agreement in which Remmele Engineering will support advanced S-band solid-state radar development with key design and thermal management technologies.

Through the agreement, Remmele will participate in a portion of Lockheed Martin's ongoing radar research and development programs and will design, develop and fabricate advanced liquid cold plates to provide thermal protection for critical radar components.

Lockheed Martin's leadership in advanced radar is the result of ongoing investment in technology research, which includes significant contributions from a wide range of business partners, many of which are small and disadvantaged businesses.

"Our experience in other complex programs shows that fielding the best radar capabilities for our military forces is the result of combining our engineering talent with the expertise and innovation of various other specialty businesses," said Chris Myers, vice president of Business Development for Lockheed Martin's Maritime Systems & Sensors business.

"Remmele has proven expertise in critical components that house radar electronics, and by including them in our research and development in the early stages, we can deliver better technology quicker and more efficiently."

Remmele Engineering, a designated small business industry-renowned for both its technology development department and its machining apprenticeship program, is a leader in contract manufacturing and the design and build of custom equipment for innovative companies worldwide.

"Partnerships like this pay big dividends for our military customer," said John Lindeen, manager of Remmele's Defense Market. "In addition to our manufacturing expertise, we focus on technical solutions that yield long term savings for the duration of our customers' programs. For example, on our support of the SPY-1 radar for the Aegis Weapon System, our processes and product output contributed to a two-thirds cost reduction for the weapon system over 20 years."

Remmele Engineering's two divisions, Contract Manufacturing and Custom Equipment, employ nearly 500 people in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area, with annual sales over $90 million. The Contract Manufacturing Division is an innovative, diversified provider of mission critical manufacturing services.
