SeaCom Provides Naval Network Centric Warfare Solutions

SeaCom is the latest addition integrating naval systems into the combined battle by offering a high-end solution of modern C4I capabilities on top of cutting edge technology network management core technology. Drawing on decades of experience in diverse areas, Elbit Systems provides customers with solutions to answer the evolving challenges faced at sea - with two leading Elbit Systems C4I management systems: Naval C4I - ENTCS 2010 and Network Management-TIGER. ENTCS 2010 is a modern generation naval C4I system providing a comprehensive NCW solution comprising advanced C4I capabilities, interoperability at naval force levels and at combined air-naval-army forces levels, based on high-end network management and radio solutions. The system is based on battle-proven building blocks and algorithms developed for the Israel Navy's SAAR 5 Command and Control system, one of the most advanced in the world. The system features advanced commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) multifunctional consoles and sophisticated algorithms supporting tactical picture building and combat systems management. Operational capabilities include threat evaluation, weapon assignment and control, radar and sensor control and display, built-in data-link, graphic and calculation support for Anti-submarine Warfare (ASW), navigation, air control, search and rescue (SAR) and ship maneuvering. The ENTCS 2010 CMS performs the following primary functions: Radar operation and control including display of radar video and tracks, compilation and presentation of an integrated and highly processed tactical picture based on onboard and external sensor and operator data, support and control of ship combat activities, data link functions, task force management and other support functions. In the modern battlefield naval forces have become a key element in supporting ground forces with indirect fire from the sea. As such, it is imperative for the naval fire control system to be directly linked to the ground force battle. SeaCom provides naval vessels with an updated tactical situation picture and the capability of sharing mission critical data with both ground force participants and airborne participants (such as helicopters) based on data communications. The system allows all mission participants to benefit from an accurate tactical picture for enhanced situational awareness, as well as effective synchronized operations on the battlefield. The system enables support coordination and accurate identification of friendly forces. It reduces fratricide and non-combatant casualties. ENTCS 2010 architecture provides an open system solution in terms of flexibility, scalability, modularity and interoperability based on high-end COTS technologies. The Open System Architecture is achieved by a powerful C4I framework - SDK (Software Development Kit) that encapsulates all generic common infrastructures, operation and application layers. SeaCom is a result of Elbit Systems' focus on advanced, network centric requirements needed to counter new, non-traditional threats, and facilitates combined, joint and networked operations. The communications backbone for SeaCom is Elbit Systems' TIGER (Tactical Internet Geographic Dissemination in Real-Time) middleware that fully enables the NCW vision. TIGER allows all NCW information elements, sources, sensors, analysts, and decision-makers to share information through a transparent, generic infrastructure. The system acts as the 'glue' for all communication bearers providing a highly reliable message delivery capability based on its unique message routing algorithms. The following illustrates TIGER middleware communications network. The system enables military deployment of C4I applications from the theatre command level down to the single platform level (ships, helicopters, vehicles, weapons systems and soldiers). This increases accuracy and timeliness of information and prevents commanders being overloaded with unnecessary and irrelevant information. Prominently, TIGER provides only the information in a commander's Area Of Interest (AOI). This significantly improves the efficiency of the network, making combat icons appear almost instantaneously on the screen, making the battle map relevant. TIGER enables interoperability with external information systems including legacy capabilities, other services, coalition partners, and allies. More importantly, TIGER's role as middleware is to connect all the various communications bearers into a single network. Battle Management System (BMS) computers are attached to any communications device, and TIGER ensures messages and data are passed to the right address at the right time in the right format. SeaCom answers today's needs for an accurate tactical picture for enhanced situational awareness. The system provides fully digital Command, Control, Communication and Mission Management operational capabilities, thus simplifying coordination among all mission participants in the air, ground and at sea. The systems interface all mission participants with identical data to provide effective synchronized operation on the battlefield. It integrates naval indirect fire support as an inherent part of the combat scenario while simultaneously providing the ships combat system with relevant naval tactical information.
