Sweden, UK ink defence deal ahead of NATO decision by AFP Staff Writers Harpsund, Sweden (AFP) May 11, 2022 British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his Swedish counterpart Magdalena Andersson on Wednesday announced a mutual defence agreement in case of an attack, as Sweden considers whether to join NATO. Helsinki and Stockholm have already held talks with powerful NATO members, including the US, France and Germany, but the document signed with Britain is the first agreement that has been made public.
