The ashes of "Star Trek" actor James Doohan, who died on Wednesday, will be sent into space following his cremation, his friend and agent Steven Stevens said.

Doohan's family plans to hold a private service after which the 85-year-old actor's ashes are to be taken into space in accordance with Doohan's wishes.

The company that will carry out the operation is called Space Services Inc., according to the agent.
