Tropical storm Peipah killed five people and left another missing after raking over the northern Philippines overnight, rescuers said Monday.
Three people drowned in the province of Isabela on the main island of Luzon, while another was crushed by a house blown down by the unseasonal storm's 105- kilometre-an-hour (65-mile) winds, the civil defence office in Manila said.
A fifth person was electrocuted, also in Isabela, as the storm toppled power lines, leaving more than 600,000 people without electricity across northern Luzon.
A man was also reported missing in the province of Kalinga, which remained without power Monday.
Peipah blew out over the South China Sea on Monday after slamming into Luzon's northeast coast Sunday.
The storm flattened more than a hundred houses in Isabela and Apayao provinces, displacing more than 500 people.
Civil defence officials also reported some damage to crops. A number of mountain roads around Baguio were closed due to landslides.
