The international coalition against the Islamic State jihadist group bombed a key jihadist command and supply hub in the area of Ramadi, capital of Iraq's Anbar province, it said Wednesday.
A video of the strike on the football stadium showed a massive secondary explosion at the site.
"The stadium was a key (IS) command and supply hub in the Ramadi region and was being used to store large amounts of homemade explosives, weapons and ammunition," the coalition said in a statement.
"Destroying this hub will significantly disrupt (IS's) ability to conduct operations and resupply their fighters in Ramadi."
IS overran Ramadi in mid-May in a major setback for Iraqi forces, which had held out against militants in parts of the city for well over a year.
IS seized swathes of Iraqi territory in a June 2014 offensive, and the coalition is carrying out daily air strikes against the jihadists to assist Iraqi forces, which have made little progress on the ground in recent weeks.
Algerian troops kill Islamist gunmen: ministry

Algerian soldiers killed two Islamist gunmen Wednesday during an ongoing operation against Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb group, the defence ministry said.
The two were killed near Ain el-Hamra village in the Boumerdes region, some 50 kilometres (30 miles) east of Algiers.
Troops also recovered a Kalashnikov assault rifle and ammunition.
The ministry said the operation against AQIM in the area was still under way.
Algeria still bears the scars of a brutal war between the state and Islamist insurgents in the 1990s.
Despite the adoption in 2005 of a peace and reconciliation charter that was meant to turn the page on a conflict that claimed 200,000 lives, armed Islamist groups are still active.
In July, at least nine soldiers were killed in an ambush southwest of Algiers, an attack claimed by AQIM, which said more than 14 died.
The ministry says that more than 60 Islamists have been killed this year, and that upwards of 100 were killed in 2014.
