Pakistan's disgraced nuclear scientist Abdul Qadeer Khan has suffered a minor heart problem and is receiving treatment, a minister said Thursday.
Khan, 69, the founder of Pakistan's nuclear weapons programme, has been under house arrest since admitting in February 2004 that he passed atomic secrets to Iran, North Korea and Libya.
"Qadeer Khan felt pain in his chest two days ago," information minister Sheikh Rashid told AFP.
He is being treated by doctors from the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology at his home in Islamabad and may undergo an angiography test in the next couple of days, Rashid said.
After the confession, President Pervez Musharraf gave Khan a conditional pardon because of his past services. Khan is still regarded as a hero by many Pakistanis for his role in developing the nuclear deterrent in response to atomic tests by India in 1998.
