Turkish and Indonesian companies this week unveiled a jointly-developed medium-weight tank at the International Defense Industry Fair in Istanbul.

The six-wheeled KAPLAN MT, made by Turkey's FNSS and Indonesia's PT Pindad, was launched three years as part of a government-to-government cooperation program.

The companies said it features precision direct fire capability and a configuration power pack, heavy duty suspension system, double pin tracks and advanced electronic control systems that contribute to its superior maneuvering capability.

"This medium weight tank is a very effective solution to today's asymmetric warfare conditions … which many armies are exposed to," Nail Kurt, chief executive officer at FNSS, said in a press release.

The KAPLAN MT is fitted with CMI Cockerill 3105 turret which integrates the Cockerill 105 millimeter high-pressure gun with an advanced autoloader.
